When looking at motherboards, I noticed that the lanparty x38 T2RB motherboard apparently only supports ddr2 800 RAM. This doesn't seem to make much sense to me though since Lanparties are supposed to some of the best mobos for overclocking. Why not support up to 1066 or 1200?

Would 800 MHz RAM be overclockable on such a board? Would 1066 or 1200 RAM simply be clocked down to 800MHz if I were to put it on? What exactly is the limitation of the board supposedly only supporting DDR2 800?

if you put in 1066 mhz ram then it would be clocked down to 800mhz. then you could try overclocking it up to 1066. as to why they dont do 1066 standard is beyond me.

I was probably going to buy 800 ram and OC it anyway, so I don't think it'll be a problem. As long as I can do that I should be ok. Thanks.

Both are wrong...

Memory Standard DDR2 800..

as in that's the recommended RAM speed, not the max

No idea about that... but it is true... people run DDR2 1000 RAM on it and it doesn't clock down
