motherboard installation help

I just ordered a new motherboard and I wanted to know if I can just plug in the old hard drive and it will work? I heard somewhere that you wont be able to just plug in the hard drive but I dont know, thanks

providing your have all the other nescesarry connections i dont see any reason why u cant simply plug in the hard drive and boot up, should work.

it is my opinion that:

1. if it's the same motherboard, it'll work.

2. If the motherboard is different (make or model) from your last board, it will not work.

Personally, give it a try, I don't think you can damage anything. I think the worst that would happen is that it would not boot or it would ask you to reinstall windows.
