Hey guys

I am really torn on these two cards

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100251SR Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
and the
Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-N891-AR GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB (512MB per GPU) 512-bit (256-bit per GPU) GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

The 4870x2 is obviously more expensive and I am wondering if it would be worth the extra coin... Also, I think it would be less money if I crossfired 4870's not get the 4780x2... But I am a nvidia guy and love all things nvidia...

any input on what would be the best gpu for the money... Trying to stay in the price range of around $300, thats why i was saying the 4870x2 is a little pricey

4870 hands down. The gx2 is old technology and not that great. I had 2 of them :p

Also, why not look into getting a gtx260?

Memory has nothing to do with performance directly. The gtx260 is newer technology and is much faster.

However the 4870x2 is faster than both. But you really need the rest of your system to be up to par to use a 4870x2 to its fullest. An Athlon 64 4000+ will bottleneck the 4870, in fact it will bottleneck most of these cards.

I agree completely but this is for my new build.. my sig is my old "crappy" build..

With this new build what card would you recommend.. the gtx260 or the 9800gx2, or any other gpu around 300 which would be better? Like would this 4870 be better than both the gtx260 and 9800gx2...

The gx2 should not be on your radar AT ALL. The 4870x2 is overkill for anything but a 24" or 30" monitor. A single 4870 or gtx260 is more than enough for a 20" monitor.

What size monitor are you going to have.

Oh btw, i'm selling 2 gtx260s for 250 shipped (each):p Brand new in the box, just got them back from stepup.
