Overclocking 4870

Guys I need help....

So I tried ati tools, but I get lost on how to use it.....

It seems like ati tools does not detect my card, so I just dont know what to do

Also, is the topic, on how to increase the fan speed here?

I don't know about ATi tools, but you can follow this for fan speed:

It should be the same with the 4850 as the 4870.

As for the Fan increase, is there a software that can do it?

ALSO, IF I reformat my computer, will all overclocking be lost?

RivaTuner can increase the fan speed.

If you reformat yes. Since it is software overclocked you will have to reinstall the software to get teh overclock back.

overclock it with CCC. it only lets you go up to 790 on the core, though. which sucks. havent tried the AMD gpu tool yet, i forgot about it. think i'll try it right now.
i cant get rivatuner to work properly with my card (the overclocking part), but the fan control with RT works just fine.

Now OC at 775 gpu clock
1075 memory

And This time I did Very high settings with 4 AA
And I got 20 FPS!!!! (THATS WORSE I THINK!!)

Last time I did High settings with no AA

And I got 42 FPS

what game/benchmark are you talking about?
20 FPS w very high (im guessin youre talking about crysis) 4AA = 42 fps high settings no AA.
youre not comparing apples to oranges. run it at high with no AA using the overlcocked settings, that would be a better comparison.
or run it at the prervious settings with very high and 4 AA.
ie run the benchmarks at the same settings overclocked and stock clock and it will give you an accurate performance comparison.

depends on the resolution. at 1920 x 1200 very high 4 x AA, i wouldnt think so. not positive tho. i dont play the only game that a modern day super-computer cant run worth a ****.
