couple of PSU and UPS questions

what does PFC (power factor correction) do exactly?

and also, say I have a 560W psu . . . if i have components that only make up about 420W, will the power supply do 560w or 420w? or somewhere in the middle (efficiency and stuff)?

also, if i have probably around 420w of components, what kind of UPS power battery thingy should i get for it? i just need about 2 minutes worth of battery to properly shut down (you know, make sure hard drives can finish their stuff)

i think i would just plug the computer into that, not the monitor and speakers and printer and stuff

haha, i dont need the thesis on it, just a simple explanation . . . . . . . .

save program - ctrl+s

close - alt+f4

shut down - windows + u + u

i know i'm thankful i have the ups cuz the other night the whole neighborhood went out like 6 times and i usually leave my computer on all the time. the $50 was worth the time it took for me to go to the computer and shut it down.
