Enjoy a better formatted list of items bud. This gives you a basic scaffold of items. Its pretty much the same as the other one (kudos to the other new member too, good work) but with abit of Zedmans touch... wtf... lol.

Now, from here your other options for this basic build are:

Upgrade the video card to two 4850's.
Upgrade the video card to the 4870.
Upgrade the video card to a 4870X2.
Upgrade the CPU to a 2.8GHZ Core 2 Quad Q9550.

And of course then choose your monitor and accessories. (The 26" Samsung monitor that was recommended seemed nice.)

Pleasure helping you.

Going with this build after accumlating all the parts listed here. Keeping my old 22" Samsung(Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 2253BW Black 22" 2ms(GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor with HDCP Support 300 cd/m2 DC 8000:1 - LCD Monitors..upgrading later..hence the 4870x2 videocard). Going to get Vista 64 bit Home Premium, but I get that free. Going to build it either later this week or weekend, or early next week, going to probably post pictures as well(to feel good about myself :) )

Total is $1204 dollars before rebates, a Xigmtech or Sunbeam cooler, and estimated the case cost. I need to buy the new games as well. Crysis, WoW, Warhammer, Call of Duty 4, WCIII, etc. May come out well over $1400

Here are the parts:

Mobo $170 Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Processor $190 Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Memory $100 Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

HDD $85 Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

Video Card $500(seems like a great deal for this card atm) Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR AX4870X2 2GBD5-H Ra deon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

PSU $83 Corsair TX 750W ATX 12V Power Supply - CMPSU-750TX - Buy.com

Case $50-120 I am still deciding between some cases ATM. I can't decide between the NZXT Tempest, NZXT Apollo, Apevia Cruiser among others. I am wanting stylish, but it also has to have everything a case would need(this is for under $120).

cooler master cm690, and nzxt tempast are pretty good mid towers. both have good wire management ability and good cooling and both in your price range.

Updating in a few on the new build specs.

Ahh...Sorry for the double post. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete it as well. My bad there.

Here is the specs of the new computer I'm most likely going to be building. If you guys think I need any more fans(I want my friend to OC it a bit) just tell me. I also have a keyboard/mouse/mousepad picked out. i am going to be playing COD4, WoW, Warhammer, and other new games. I hope this is a good build for the cost. I am also going to probably add a another HD 4870 sometime over the next few months.

Total comes to $1410 before some rebates and maybe an extra fan(or two?), also excludes the mouse/keyboard/mousepad I picked out. Any advice welcome.

Those are some good choices there. That build as is will be pretty good. I have only a few suggestions.

#1 get a western Digital hard drive instead of a seagate.

#2 Since you have $1500 to spend you might as well get the I45 instead of the tp45. I have the TP45 and its a good board, but the I45 is just a notch higher. it also holds the world OC record right now.

#3 I would invest in a 3rd party HSF. Xigmatek makes good ones. The cooler that wolfdales ship with is not the great and it doesn't hold to OCing well. A good hsf will only run you about $30 or so. The benefits far outweigh the small price.

also, whats the deal with a $22 mouse pad? Mouse pads are usually given away. In my experience laser and optical mice don't even need mouse pads.

And, I dunno, it looks like its pretty nice and its fairly big which I liked. But I'm not going to get a new mousepad, just a new mouse(Microsoft Habu or a G5) and a Keyboard (Saitek Cyborg).

I posted a new build in page two of this thread. It replaces the Seagate with a Western Digital, and I also have a I45 in the new build as well. And I think I mentioned somewhere about a fan or two and was going to buy a sunbeam or Xigmatek.

Thanks for the suggestions though, much appreciated :)
