Still debating with the possibility of getting a motherboard with the onboard
X4500HD until I throw in a videocard but then on the other hand the X4500HD is really useless once I get a videocard....

I am considering a 9600GT or the 8500GT

Like always all advices for the above components are welcome.

the retailer I am ordering through is my favorite - DirectCanada.com
(until NewEgg doesnt launch)

i don'y know enough about budget parts to comment much, but as far as the video cards you're considering go for the 9600gt over the 8500.

Have you considered purchasing an AMD based build? The 780G chipset can run with a video card and is much more powerful than the Intel graphics.

Power? as in Speed of the GPU? Well its faster than anything Intel has out right now, even beats the GMA X4500 by a good bit..

However, some would say that AMD has an "inferior" product compared to Intel, they are a bit behind though... I'd say stick with Intel and don't plan on gaming on the GMA X4500, or drop the settings a lot!!

hey man vernong.. howzit goin bud..

the X4500 would be just my insurance incase a videocard decides to die on me.

by power i meant... the power requirements / temp. issues (heating etc)

See i was even considering the AMD 790GX with SB750. But then I had a hard time jusitfying the price/performance ratio between an X4 Phenom and a C2D (the latter being beating the former in performance/power consumption/heat).

Otherwise, AMD is capable of an awesome budget rig no doubt.

howz the temps on your amd rig?

Go with the 9600gt, they are really cheap now, or even an 8800gs, as it is not much far behind a 9600gt. Also the timmings on that ram are a little lagging, pun intended, i would go for a set with 4.4.4.12

Don't forget our good buddy the HD 4670 :)
