new cpu suggestions?

I'm planning on upgrading my processer soonish, just wondering what you guys would recommend getting.
I'd definitely go Intel, and I'd like to keep it under $500ish bucks.
Any suggestions?

yeah def. whether to go quad or dual is the main question, i would go with a q9550 for future purposes. but then when both are overclocked the e8500 will probably perform better due to the massive clock rates. but that will all change in quad optimized apps.

A few other people I know recommended the Q9550 too, so it looks like I'll be going with that. I was consider going with an e8500 but I think I'll play this one safe and not go for any massive overclocks. (I thinks I pwned my current cpu thru oc...)
