First off I dont want this to be a thread about which card sucks and why my mom has terets and whatnot

In all seriousness..I'm running a 1400x900 AOC and I already have my 650tx installed and all that. The only bottleneck for crysis or whatver is my 4200+ x2 2.2ghz .. locked bios so forget OC.

K so will the 4870 or 260 be better for my rig. I want to use it later, and I know the 4870 can run dx 10.1 or whatever when that comes out, but its only 512mb's and I think all the core speeds are lower. I heard the overclocking is better on the 4870.

So without any dumb comments or fights or 9090128312 pages of debates, just gimme ur opinion. Just to mention, I can get a 260 for $240 after rebate with a lifetime warranty and a free crysis included, all for the same price as a 4870. Doesnt matter though, as long as its under $300.

Thanks

well a lot of people would say that a 4870 is better but if you can get crysis for free than the 260 sounds good. but i like nvidia cards and right now i think that even the 4850 is faster than a 260.

this is just what i would do if i were upgrading and had the money. i would wait for the die shrinks of the gtx 260 and 280 and then get a 280

That is indeed a good card, but the 4870 is better, and in the future you can xfire 4870's and it would completely wreck that card.

*EDIT* You realize the 280 is going to csto 500+$ right? Not worth it.. when the 4870 is all you need and you can pick it up for 250

Ok, but when will the 260 get the die shrink or whatever, is that anytime soon? If in a few weeks I'll just get that but otherwise I'll just choose something this week
