Hello everyone!! I have a strange problem. We have a Dell Optiplex 320 PC, it is running XP PRO. The thing is every time we plug into any USB port, the PC restarts itself? It will keep restarting until the device is unplugged. I am fairly computer literate, but have never seen this. I suspect one of the kids (5) have done something. Has anyone experienced this?
Thank you for any help.

That's better :). Just keeps the forum a little more organized.

Have you tried uninstalling all USB drivers including root drivers and restarting the computer? Do it through Device Manager if you haven't.

OK, I uninstalled the USB drivers through device manager, rebooted the PC auto installed the drivers and when I plugged in to USB port it restarted the machine again. Yes, no matter what I plug in it restarts itself. Camera, flash drive etc.

Yea MB = Mother Board

Go to the Dell site and search the Driver download section and get the chipset drivers for you system. See if that helps.

If not i would have to agree that it could be a short in the mobo that is causing this.
