When you call Dell ask for out of warranty repair. Tell them the screen is dead rather than have to talk to tech support. Double check your service tag number. Its in the bios if you can see it through the artifacts.

It is not under warranty. It had a 2 yr warranty and it is now 3 years old. I would rather not have to replace it since it has never froze, shutoff, run slow, or disappoint me at all since i've owned it.

This problem was completely random.

Things like this happen. Remember OEM consumer pcs are built to fail after a few years so they keep you coming back. Unfortunately there isn't a thing you can do to fix a failure gpu on a laptop.

I ended up bringing it to a well-known laptop repair shop nearby.

They inserted a XP OS disk. Chose repair. It repaired a few corrupt files. Done.

Works fine.
