I was looking at hard drive specs and I came across these two:

Shock, Nonoperating (Gs) and Shock, Operating (G)

what does that mean? Is that the level of shock it can withstand?

thanks

Hello,

Operating shock is the amount of shock which the hard drive can withstand when powered on and operating.

Non operating shock is the amount of shock which the hard drive can withstand when it's not powered on.

thanks

quick question, I'm looking at getting a semi-rugged laptop and swapping out the drive for one of two 2.5in hard drives (I'm swapping out cause it only comes in a 5400rpm 60GB size). I was looking at swapping in a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 (with G-Force Protection freefall sensor) or getting the Seagate Momentus 5400 PSD hybrid drive.

Which would be more beneficial? The added security of protection from falling OR a hybrid drive which will lead to fast boot times

This is for everyday use, the only issue is I do plan on using it on the road (in my car), so I ask is the hybrid drive just as good when it comes to shock protection

thanks
