Well I have finally decided that I would build my own computer. First of all since this will be my first build I was hoping to start with a budget of $400. Just to let you know I am planning on using this computer mostly for managing my ever growing movie and media collection, ripping dvds, converting movies, burning movies. I do plan on hooking this computer up to my flat panel Tv, and I plan on running Windows Vista 32bit (unless someone could convince me to use something else)...

Here is my list...Thanks in advance for any responses...

Don't forget to look at combo deals to save some money
and don't forget about the OS, that's almost the most important part of finishing the computer everyone forgets to factor into the cost!

Drop the 6000+ for the 5400+ Black Edition... by saving for the BE instead, you have budget room to buy a 780g board which is HDCP Compliant

You could go Intel as well, and that's what most of the forum will tell you to do, but remember its YOUR build

Thanks for the great advice...I will check out the Black edition cpu, what exactly would be the advantage of a 780g board which is HDCP compliant? do you have one you could reccommend so I know what to look for?
