mdshort - trust me. They are HUGE. They can do more math in 1 second than a human can do on a calculator in 80, 000 years. That is a true fact.
 
a supercomputer is a array of mainframes that are able to perform teraflops (today, megaflops in years past) .... or floating point calculations per second. they are the size of a large room, but not THE computer itself but a array of many parrallel processors
 
Size of a porta-potty, mmm, more like a small housing estate; this is the Earth Simulator in Japan, currently the most powerful supercomputer in existence, at a peak of 40 Tflops.

yeah, they made a supercomputer out of 1100 G5 computers . . . 2200 processor . . .

3rd fastest supercomputer in the world, but the cheapest out of the top 20 or so . . .

I dont think that is true. I believe it used to be true but then some company in japan broke it a couple months back.
