Windows won't install external hdd drivers

When I plug in my WD passport 60gb into my computer, it pops up the dialog box saying it needs to install the device driver software. The problem is it says it can't find any and there's no disk that comes with my hd. I've never had this problem with it before. I just wiped one of my drives and put a fresh install of vista on it and now I suddenly can't use my external on it.

The drive still works on other computers.

Any ideas what is going wrong here?

Well I double checked to make sure I had all of the windows updates and I still had several left to install. I let those install, restarted my comp and it was working. I don't know exactly what updates I had or anything though.
