Im need to buy a new pc, The one that i have now is well past its last legs. I Im not a avid gamer, But i do like to play games. Mainly mmorpg or the like. I rarely play FPS on pc. Games like Champions online and Diablo 3. Mainly it would be for school, music and videos. My budget is 1500.00 But i would like to stay under 1200.00 if i can.

I saw a pc for 919.00 but i cant find any info on the company that makes ( website or phone number ) and the stores that sell the pc dont have any info on the company either. The specs of the pc are as followed.

MODEL: 7410Xi-35

* Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 2.4GHz
* 8MB L2 cache / 1066MHz FSB
* 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM
* 500GB SATA hard drive
* 20X DVD+/-RW Drive
* GeForce 8500GT 512MB PCI-Express video card
* 10/100/1000Mbps LAN network interface
* 6 USB 2.0 ports
* 15-in-1 media reader

Includes:

* Keyboard
* Optical mouse
* 2-piece multimedia speakers
* Genuine Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium

Color: Black

Power: 120-230V (auto adjusts), AC 50/60Hz
Size: 14¼"H x 7¼"W x 16½"

If anyone can help me out with any ideas, that would help me out greatly, thanks.

I think you could do much better than that by custom building it. That graphics card is a little on the slow side so it would be a good idea to bump up its specs, if only to future proof the system.

Any hints on what i should be looking for? As i said im not the most computer savvy person in the world. Any input would be great.

I'm no authority on this either, pretty much all my computer knowledge is from 3 computer magazines and this forum. I am considering building a computer similar to the one outlined in your post and I too am unsure about a suitable video card. I currently have a 8600GT, but I think even that is too low and would cause a system bottleneck. I'm looking at either a 8800GT, 9600GT or a 9800GT.

This build is copy+paste (made by gurusan) which i thought was good and left lots of room for upgrading. It will run any game @ very high and will last a long time. There is no case listed because it comes down to personal choice on what you want. If you would like me to list a case then i would look at the Antec 300.

You could always substitute the E8400 for a Q6600 if you want a bit more life out of it. Also you could probably take a few things out to lower the cost.

total: 910 before shipping and rebates. and it will beat up on that rig you listed, especially if you overclock it. if you have a higher budget, i'd get a p5q deluxe or the pro that redmoon suggested. but theres no way i'd get a q6600 over one of the dual core wolfdales unless you are really going to need it. if you are really going to need it, look at the q9550. its half what it cost last month.

Looks great... until Q9550's are more affordable or whenever good q6600 batches are out, or if you can get your hands on a decent used low-VID q6600, I'm not recommending q6600's

Forgot about little beasties... Nosboost said he got a nice one before, I'm guessing since most of them didn't sell that well, it could go either way. I'm probably going to recommend those now
