actually my P5Q Deluxe has a power monitoring function called EPU something or other....I was curious and when I had my Q6600 at 1.3v and 2.8ghz it was only drawing 60-65w under 100% load (prime95)
I think motherboard monitoring systems are even worse when it comes to accuracy (for any system)

...obviously you have not heard of the EPU engine on the newer Asus boards. It's pretty accurate and shows you the current amperage draw of the CPU, mobo, hdd, and video card if it is supported (must be asus). I never use it though because it shuts off as soon as you start overclocking unless you use the gay EPU overclocking software which really sucks.
