the 8800gs is the exact same as a 9600gso. either will out preform a 3850 and they are both on par with a 3870 if not better.

So warranty repaired should be ok, i.e. nothing really different compared to new. I'd say it will be fine anyway, no worries
Also, what does your system run like. It a higher end than what I'm building but uses a similar processor and a GPU I might investigate. :)

Also, any idea why I can't change my Avatar and Profile picture. It keeps saying invalid file although I'm using a Jpeg or Gif file within the limits
My system will run COD4 maxed out at 1440x900 with 2xAA and AF .Crysis is playable on all high settings DX9 at 1280x800 with ~30fps. The e2180 is really easy to overclock since it has such a low fsb. I was able to oc mine to 2.8ghz on stock voltage.

Try uploading you avatar/profile picture as a .png file.

That's a great fram rate for Crysis anyway! Looks like my decision's been made. e2180, the MSI Platinum board, 9600gt, stock cooler* and the basics then.

*What kind of difference would an aftermarket cooler make for the overclockability of this and can you recommend any good ones from that site

PS: Based on this thread, I now actually have the complete, well designed build for the PC in a matter of hours. Not bad at all. No wonder we all like good 'aul TechForums :D

The OCZ Vendetta looks good based off of this review. You can always try ocing with the stock cooler and get a aftermarket one later if you need it.

Dabs Ireland - OCZ Technology OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler (OCZTVEND)

I would get the evga 8800gs since they are supposed to have better memory than the xfx 8800gs/9600gso.

Dabs Ireland - EVGA GeForce 8800GS 384MB DDR3 PCIE 2xDVI 550/1.6GHZ (384-P3-E851-AR)

Also I had my E2180 at 2.8ghz while running all the games I mentioned before.
Wiil look into the EVGA, I have an EVGA 8800gts now and its sweet but never tried an XFX one, although my XFX Fatal1ty 8600gt was good.
The P35 Platinum should be able to manage 2.8GHz hopefully. But if not I'll get a P35-DS3L board. Besides if I do get the 8800gs/9600gt then I won't need a crossfire board (Platinum) (As said, if I get a 3850/70 I will probably get another one later for crossfire

That 8800GS will perform like 3 or 4 times better then your old 8600GT. Keep this in mind 1 8800GS will outperform SLI'ed 8600GT's. Even though the 8600GT's and 8800GS's are about the same price range at the moment. More then double the performance for the same price.
