installing 9800gtx - no signal to monitor

when i power up my computer with the new card, the monitor doesn't cooperate and i get 'no signal' but when i switch back to my old card, everything is fine. i installed the drivers before i put the old card in and still nothing. the green light also comes on, on the gpu when powered up. any ideas? thanks in advance!

is your computer a custom build?

was ur last gpu pci-e as well

and lastly, how big is your power supply

my pc is a custom build, last card was pci-e and 650 Watt psu.

do you still get the start up beep like it normally does?

have you tried to take a stick of ram out to see if it boots? also have you tried to reset your bios? When i installed my 9800gtx my system didnt power up immediately either it took a couple of bios resets and also i put in a new psu in at the same time.

do i reset the bios with the other card in?

reset it with the new card in. my system was a bit stubborn when i instaled mine. is yours a xfx, thats a good brand.

mine is EVGA actually but i'll try resetting the bios

still a good brand with thier stepup. but to get mine to work i just swappped the power connectors around a few times and that finaly got it to output. also does the fan come on? does the card seem to be getting warm?
