Hey guys,

The other day my other comps cpu overheated and now its more or less dead. Its a P4 2.4C Northwood HT fsb800 L2 512. So the thing is i can get a replacement from a friend. I can either get the same one, a P4 2.4A Prescott fsb533 L2 1MB or a P4 2.8A Prescott fsb533 L2 1MB. Which is the best among the three.

Thanks

Well, if your old one overheated, it would be a bit stupid to get a higher clocked one or it will come to the same fate.

The larger cache Prescott models are better, but also hotter so use that and go forth at your own risk.

The old one overheated cause one of the latches for the bracket came loose so the heat sink was not firmly in place. Im getting a Zalman for it anyway so overheating should't be the issue anymore. Just need to know which of the cpus are the best so i can pick it up.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they are all single cores. That's why i was thinking that the 2.4C's HT might compensate for the 400Mhz difference since HT is like a virtual dual core.

So, will the HT make the 2.4C better than the 2.8A?
