Well, I wasn't too sure where to put this so I put it here =).
I've been shopping around for a new computer and I wanted some "expert" advice from people who also play this dumb little game called Gunz =P. For the last six years of so, I've been running a crappy AMD Athlon XP 3000+. Sadly, I've NEVER experienced Intel Core Duo or Quad Core. Suggestions?

Well, I'm a moderate gamer (WC3, Gunz, bit of CoD4). But mainly I use it for music, videos, and just stuff a regular high-schooler would use it for =).
My budget's around $600 to about $800. If it's a deal, I'd hit $1000.

For that you would be able to get a very low end PC. Not even budget. For a Core 2 Duo mobo and decent CPU you are looking at around $300 or more. If you want Quad then more for sure. Then you have to add in RAM and everything else.

Moved to hardware support.

Cheers,
Mak

You could build a good system with under $800, not sure if you need to buy the OS & monitor too if not this is a good starting point.

No matter what you do, don't spend over 700$. Anything over 700$ or more is usually just a waste anyways.

How about this, it's about 799 after mail in rebates, and the CPU should easily do 3.8-4ghz. If you have some more cash I would go for the E8400 though

Well, thanks for the suggestions guys but I'm really not looking to build my own computer =0. I know... *gets slapped in the face* I'm starting a couple of IB courses in school now and I just don't have the time =/.
