why chuck out all this cash a few months before nehalem is coming out? the chip will cost less than a Q9550 , it uses DDR3, and the board will be about $250 so i'm sure it's within your budget

Probably more around $300, because the chipset alone is $70..

Its still in his budget though

you guys said a 1000 watt power supply would be over kill.

- Well since today was the official release of the ati 4870x2 graphic card, I found out the required power supply recommendations. Manufacturers recommend at least a 650 watt power supply for one card.
- One review stats the card used 393 watts at load.
- So if I ever do get a second one of these it seems I would need some power.

You wouldn't need a second one for a very long time and by then they would be out of date

so in a month or two after the price drop, you wouldn't be interested in crossfiring two of them together. I mean if I had a larger budget like some other people do. (such as ones that already have tri Sli 280gtx cards) it seems like 2 of these cards are the logical top of GPU bar. But since my budget is not unlimited, and that this card will play any game on the market, at high resolution, etc.. pretty top notch, that a second one in the future will allow my system to continue to do so.
