Just wondering before I put this together should I have gone with Windows Xp Pro with SP3.I have been hearing a lot of stories about Vista.

I would stick with vista. I have been using it for several months and have not had any problems.

Some people say they have a lot of problems with it and compatibility issues, but i have it on a computer at work, and on my laptop, and i haven't had the slightest problem. On my laptop i have 1gb ram also (which im upgrading in a few days though, but it ran very well with 1gb, im only upgrading because i want it to run a bit smother, but im picky)

Don't talk about that here man. Besides an OEM XP Service Pack 2 CD is liek 85$ so its more then affordable. But if that is too much for you, you can always get Ubuntu for free online. Which believe it or not is not illegal and also has its own form of Microsoft Office.
