Generic PSU

Depends on the PSU. It could power it more than fine depending on the specs of the PSU. Although, it is normally recommended that you get a better PSU and steer away from generic or Case Included PSU's.

I'm trying to save some money to buy a good PSU. Its just that in the Philippines it costs much and only a few brands to choose from. Will read the specs of the PSU later. :D

As noted by many people here, make sure you look at the amps across the +12V rails - that determines how well the PSU can drive the GPU.

I took a look on my generic PSU. Here's what it says:

+3.3V = 22A
+5v = 16A
+12V1 = 15A
+12V2 = 16A
-12V = 0.8A
+5VSB = 2.5A

My brother-in-law will be giving me the HD3870 as a gift. Wonder if I should just ask him to buy me a PSU instead :D
