I start by eliminating these categories: Pentium 4, Celeron and Celly D, Pentium D, and Pentium D EE

All of vern's choices are perfect. You could possibly add the E2160 and E8500 if you can get a good sale price on them. The rest are old or overpriced or both .

there is already a computer hardware suggestion sticky

also it should probably include the Xeon e3110 with a note that it is an e8400 rebadged and would be a good substitute if for some reason it is cheaper or more readily available

i dont care if it is overpriced or something i just want to test at least 1 cpu from each class and resell them like buy it in ebay after testing sell it i am also doing it with GPU but GPU are easier for me to pick since their is a GPU Ranking

all these CPU are 65nm or lower and LGA 775 socket so i dont need to go buy multiple mobo probably 2 one for Crossfire and SLI
