9800 GX2 vs ATI hd 4870

I had someone suggest to me that instead of getting a 9800 GX2 would have a better price/performance ratio than getting a single hd 4870. I've looked at some bench marks and it seems to be true but i'm still not sure. Any suggestions.

new egg has an evga 9800 gx2 for 285 which is about the same price i can get a 4870.

HD 4870 is better in games that can't support Dual GPU, in Dual GPU supporting games, the 9800GX2 is better

Americas Army, Crysis, Call of duty 4, counter strike source, far cry, hlf2,

All those except Crysis will do better with an HD 4870.

Even though COD4 has a Dual Video Card in its options, its has no performance gain. The rest of the games are pretty old, and probably won't have Dual GPU card support.

So running a 9800 gx2 with those games unsupported will run like just one 9800 gx?
