For the past 2 days my acer laptop fails to start. When I press the power button, following things occur:
1) Power light starts and stays on
2) Processor light starts and then turns off after 30 seconds
3) Monitor never turns on and neither anything is displayed.
4) Fan remains on.

basically nothing comes on the screen..is it dead? motherboard, i guess is fired..

how shd i solve this?

Hello,

Moved to the correct section. We have a Laptop section that covers all things laptop.

Sounds like your display might be gone. It could be the mobo as well. Have you tried to use the power cord and not the battery?

If the mobo is fried you would have to send it in for repair.

Cheers,
Mak

To test the battery just remove it from the system and try booting with power cord only. Sometimes removing it and then replacing it can help, worth a shot cause it's quick.

To test the display just plug an external monitor into the VGA port on the side of your laptop and boot up.

I'm thinking mobo on this one if the above doesn't help. You might be in luck if you're under warranty (and Acer actually honors it--service dept isnt the best). Otherwise you're looking at a circa $300 repair.
