I have been given a friends laptop to fix and I can't figure it out! The screen has developed a habit of flickering and then generally switching of altogether, a restart is then needed. It seems to be completely random and it's hardware related, it was flickering while trying to reinstall XP.
The laptop is a Packard Bell Easynote. I'm not sure of the model number (I think its MIT-TIT-N)
I have disassembled it and given it a clean so I can see no reason why it should overheat. Perhaps its the display panel or the onboard graphics

Anyone have a clue whats wrong

packard bell....monitors approaching 3 years seem to start going down hill...flickering and color distortions are a sign of imminent monitor death

on a similar subject..."artifacts" of like nature signal video card demise (ie., garbled/jumbled sprite-like and alpha numerical imagery)

a b/w image is often a sign of video card death....

put those in your mental filing cabinet of troubleshooting ;)
