Hello All

Im planning on building a HTPC to go with a new TV that i am going to get (1080p naturally). Ive got a spec below:

Intel Core 2 Duo E2200 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.20GHz (800FSB) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400DC)
LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader & HD-DVD ROM Serial ATA Drive - Retail
MSI P31 Neo2-FR Intel P31 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Graphics: one of my G80 8800GTSs
HDD: 500GB HDD from NAS and an older 120GB HDD not in use atm
PSU + case reclycled from an old pc - its gonna sit in a corner...

What do you think?

Looks good! Is that enough HD space for a HTPC? I personally would have around 2tb's at least. Check out the 640gb WD's I'm sure you have seen everywhere ;)

Nah, i wanted to input HD video from the SkyHD box im getting through a component input and as such i am planning on picking up a Blackmagic intensity pro for £200. It supports live video capture at 1080i through component, and SkyHD outputs 1080i, so it will be ideal for me to record the odd film or stargate ep :p on top of storing my media

PS i am upgrading to a Q6600 as a result of the tuner ^^ since it requires transcoding on the fly, so a quad was my best bet.

As for the HDD, if space starts getting tight, ill just pick up another 500gb, theyre going got about £40 these days :O

^sweet. i don't know, unless your recording everyday, and recording a lot a day, you should be fine for a good while with that hdd.
