audio : on board Vs card

blasicly, ive just got my hands on an old-ish sound blaster card, model CT4780 see: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! PCI Sound (Creative Labs CT4780) : Etech4sale.com, was wondering if its worth putting it in my comp, or if the on board sound is better, the on board sound in question is of the asus p5w dh deluxe?

This is just me,but as long as the board has 7.1 sound, I don't see any difference.

Maybe its just me. I not as experienced as many of the members here.

I think any sound card will be equal or better than onboard. Anyway it goes it's taking a load off of your motherboard. It should increase performance, but you might not be able to actually tell the difference :|

Or you mean audio performance? (but still dosent make sence.) sound is sound, I guess its all up to your surround system speakers

he is talking bout taking the stress of the board or cpu onto the pci sound card... frees up power on the board.

That sound is on par as an onboard, but consider atleast an Audigy!

You'll get a 10FPS increase too, as its not hogging of the board
