I just bought a Xeon E3110 for 82.50 quid shipped, not too bad. It already did 4.2ghz on 1.4v (565fsb at lower multi), so it seems just slightly better than what I have here. Either way I can sell the E8500 at a slight profit and then cash in on a cheap deal for this Xeon :)

Try this version of coretemp, it says my VID is 1.1125V

Anyway, I just passed 8 hours of orthos on my E8500:

oh and I managed this :) Hoping to have over 500fsb stable on my new Xeon E3110 as it really seems to help memory performance.

says my VID is 1.125 as well. and my temps are right. hmmm. which do i believe?
lol @ 750 wtf.
thats a healthy fsb clock there guru. what NB voltage?

you believe the latest version :( and i used 1.3v on the nb for 533mhz. crashed orthos after 15min though...needs more voltage i guess or i have to mess with the PL

im sure the pro can do just as high fsbs...there's not much difference between the 2.

mmmm, i have trouble posting a little over 500. your mobo has 16 phase power while mine has only (lol) 8 phase. that may have something to do with it. you also have better cooling on your mosfets. im sure you are aware of this heh. i haven't messed with the voltages too too much...i've been busy and its summertime wakeboarding season. i may monkey with it when my 9450 gets here. today. yay yer!

yeah but the 16phase power doesn't benefit that much in real world apps.

If you aren't posting over 500fsb it's probably to do with your memory setup and performance level settings. I require around PL9 or PL10 for 500fsb

what bios do you use? i wonder if it would work with the pro...
memory was running under stock speed i think when i was trying...
i dont know that mine shows any "performance level" settings...i'll investigate today...where is it located in your bios?

EDIT: NVM, found it. mine goes up to 9.

oOo, I figured out something that was holding back my stable OC's. There was a setting in my bios that was like "change this to enable if you want to go past 3.6ghz!"

I never saw it before, but it basically said that loud and clear and I was like "well gosh... better go to 4ghz!"

I should be done testing tonight. OCCT has been running for about... 2 hours.

I am using bios version 1102, but they are different for each P5Q board. There's a P5Q thread on XS that is very helpful...I have seen even the base p5q do well over 500fsb stable so you should have no problems hitting those speeds.

What's your current clock, fsb, and what do you want to raise it to?

POst up your current settings using this template:
