On my old machine my friend messed with something and now the taskbar doesn't show. I pressed the window button and it doesn't show still. I also tried control + esc. Everytime I restart the computer the resolution changes to 640x480. Does anyone know how I can fix this? The machine is on WinME.

It's possible that your friend resized your taskbar off of the screen, although I don't know why pressing the windows key wouldn't give you the start bar. Put your cursor at the bottom of the screen, then click and drag up a little bit. Hopefully that brings it back. If not, try the same thing on the other sides of the screen, as he may have moved your taskbar, then resized it.

Could also be a virus. Run a scan of your system. If you don't have a antivirus on your system, then click one of the links below.

Also, if you don't have any antivirus on your system, load one of the free ones from this next link.

I'm formatting this computer. I'm going to install WinXP on it also. I use AVG on my new computer.

i had this once, its a joke virus. move your mouse to the upper right or left hand corner of your desktop. that's all you gotta do!

always problem with you, eh major? :p :p :p :p

haha, just kidding . . .

this actually reminds me of some lady that i met who had this happen to her . . . she accidentally unlocked the taskbar and resized it down and somehow she couldn't get it . . . so she asked me "should i get a bigger monitor to see it?"

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

lol, thats funny.
but i don't think its a taskbar resizing problem, he said that his resolution has changed.

anyway, good choice paperroll, get rid of me. do a clean install of xp.
