Notebook for dad

So my dad is in dying need of a new notebook. His Vaio from 2002 just won't cut it anymore lol. He is on a budget although I don't know exactly how much(guessing it's sub-700). He will be using it as an email checker, web surfer, picture uploader and movie watcher. He needs excel(he likes powerpoint..lol) and a card reader that will read his compact drive card from his Sony camera that will upload photos. Any suggestions?

Buy the HP Pavilion dv6910us 15.4" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop and other Laptop computers at circuitcity.com

HP DV6910US - $600, spend the extra $100 to get Office Home and Student for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Don't forget that almost all laptops don't come with office on them.
Also Acer laptops are crap... I see more defective Acer's than anything else.
