i got about 1600 aus dollars to build a hi end gaming pc

that build is no good, the mobo is old, gts 640mb were discontinued along time ago..

4gb reapers
640gb wd
his 4870
q6600
antec 300 case

for 1600 you would be looking at this
if u went the extra 4870 (x48) it would be right on budget. i would advise waiting for the 4970x2 (soon). thats with quality psu. you could eg ta cheaper say bout 80 save a lil but i rec. silverstone they are great. thas the computer i rec. u get, only 1300 after shipping so room to play with dvd drive, card reader etc. and extra 4870 if u will

tv tuner: if u want one compro are a good brand slected sumthin from their range.

It'll work. In fact, it's one of the few card types (ATI 3xx0 and 4xx0 series) to support DirectX 10.1 (which is used in Assasins Creed)

There is a patch to run it in DirectX 10.0 for cards that don't support 10.1. Just don't install it.
