coretemp reads 10*C too high.
realtemp is the only accurate program that i am aware of for 45nm.
guru...i dont think 80* is ok for a 45nm quad, but im not sure. lol...i wouldn't run MINE that hot (if i had one....sooon hahah), but jseber you are welcome to run yours that high and see what happens lol guinea pig.

yea i've always heard that 71C was the point the chip started to lose time off of it's life. so 80C is just insane lol and most 45nm quads run cooler than 65nm quads.

maybe clean out all the fans, check thermal paste, re seat HS/F

EDIT: dunno why i mentioned the 45nm thing lol...had a slow moment n got off topic

yep 65nm.

Past few months i have only overclocked it to 3.4.. 800mhz increase with little voltage increase

Funny how overclocking is...Dont see one bit of difference in games

My rendering app is multithreaded for as many cpus i can throw at it. just going up 800mhz on each core increased rendering times by about 15%

I will re-seat it tonight and but some new arctic silver on. Will maybe try using a little bit faster fan., grrrr tryin to keep it quiet lol
