a huge problem really need help

i just cleaned my cpu
i took off the fan , the heatsink for the cpu, and when i put everything back, then when i turn it back on the monitor doesn't show anything,and after a while, the lights in the front turns black and yet the fans still spins!
PLEASE HELP
what might be the problem

hmmmm...was it the stock hsf? if it was how did you take off that thermal pad if you did.

k then it must be...how did you clean the resedue off the cpu when you took off the hs(heat sink)
