does everyone use onboard sound now? Theres so many different brands of those video cards, and all priced around the same. A 512mb card will be enough to run the latest games?

Alot of people use onboard sound, but I wouldn't ever go back to it. Any good Creative X-Fi card will get you noticeably better sound, and most modern games take advantage of the hardware acceleration sound cards offer. If you're not a big sound guy, then don't worry about it. But if you plan on buying some nice 5.1/7.1 speakers, then don't go without it.

Most good vid cards have 512mb on them. Honestly how much memory a certain card has isn't as important as how fast the actual card is. For example, the 1GB 8800GT isn't any better than the 512mb 8800GT because the card's not fast enough to take advantage of the memory.

im a huge sound man, ive never gone without a sound card......what is ANY game without sound...people can just creep and shoot u in the back of the head

I use an extremely old original SB LIVE! pci card that has worked wonders for over 8 years for me.....might as well use this in my new system for now, or would the onboard be better?

Well if the card is 8 years old then chances are that onboard may be better. But a new X-Fi card will be better than onboard.

Now how should we cut your prices... hmm.. unless you're a really avid gamer you could consider dropping the q6600 for an e7200 and overclock it some.. or better yet stick with this because its definitely worth the extra money

But just so you know 90% of the members here end up increasing their budget before their build time comes so you're not alone

isnt the ram i have on there faster its only like 30 bux more, and i hold you accountable for increasing my budget =P , but i think its gonna be less money to invest in this system in the future, so its worth it

It is faster, but not enough to make a noticeable difference in gaming. With Cas 5, 5-5-5-15 DDR2 1066 RAM, you don't know if you can definitely drop it to DDR2 800 4-4-4-12, as with these you know they already do that, and will hit Cas 5 5-5-5-15 when it comes to overclocking your Q6600 (if applicable)

Also remove the Asus P5Q Pro and the HD 4850, and add it like this to save $30:

- Open your Wish List and remove the HD 4850 and the Asus P5Q Pro
- Open the Asus HD 4850's Newegg page
- Scroll to Combo's and Essentials
- Hit "View All"
- Then look for this combo:
