I don't know if it is more appropriate to put this in a notebook forum or case mod forum.

I have a Compaq evo p4 notebook that has a crack in the case behind the screen, very near the hinge - maybe 1/8" from the hinge. The notebook is still very useful so I would like to take precautions to keep the crack from getting larger.

I was thinking of removing the screen from the frame and applying some kind of fabric to the case from the inside - perhaps fiberglass? - and then from the outside using some kind of glue to fill in the crack.

Is fiberglass a good option? or a small piece of kevlar? What kind of glue should I use? Is it likely that the glue will have a corrosive oder that will damage something in the notebook? What kind of glue/filler should I use on the outside? I am trying to preserve the appearance of the notebook. If it works I would like to paint it red :)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
