which is better?

q6600

or

e7200

or

e8400?

read in a magazine the e7200 wolfsdale was a great processor especially for gaming.

The dual cores(e7200, e8400) are better for the majority of games at the moment.

The quad core is future proof and will be great in the future(Runs great now also).

If I was you, go for the quad core.

If you've got lots of money, go with the E8400(OC it) and just buy a quad core later.

depends what its used for. Running multiple apps and rendering, go for the quad. Just for gaming you could go for a dual core. Just remember when you oc both dual and quad they are going to be running pretty close although the wolfdales are alittle bit faster. You could wait for the q9550 to drop

agreed..

or save your cash for Bloomfield/ Nehalem

You can't always expect a exact same overclock everytime.. but 3.5ghz-3.8ghz is possible on Air Cooling, however please don't whine if you don't get there when the time comes (I beg you.. please don't..) there are certain variables to consider overclocking potential (VID, Room conditions, overclocking ability, cooling etc)

most q6600's will get 3.2 stable very easily, alot of people reach 3.4 -.6 relatively easy as well but usually anything more than that requires more tweaking. this is assuming you have a decent cooler and paste.
