arctic silver would mean cleaning off all the melted wax from the thermal "pad." I'll do it if needed, if this keeps up, but won't enjoy it

where are u getting ur readings from? get a prog liek speedfan and c if they are the same. how long have u had the pc? but the thermal pad should be fine..

Maybe consider getting better colling, like a sp97 hehe

FYI, just ran speedfan. on first detection, i got this:

any idea why those first 2 fans are 29 RPM? that doesn't seem all that quick

wow tahts slow, check in the bios for the fans.

is there any way to find out which fans those are? I have 4 "visible" fans. 2 rear, 1 front and 1 side. They all are spinning MUCH faster than 29 RPM.

Yeah check bios for the system tab or something - it should give you an accurate reading of all the current temperatures and fan speeds.

just popped open the case. all fans are whizzin away. i checked bios and cpu fan was 3000 rpm or so, but front and rear fan were both zero. this, as i watched those fans spin like crazy. maybe it's not detecting them. stupid question - does the cpu fan blow toward or away from the chip?
