HI

did finally have my final spec but looks like it may change again, what graphics cards would be best

2x HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Crossfire

2x BFG GeForce GTX 260 OC 896MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - SLI

the HD 4870's are £65 cheaper about $130 usd cheaper.

so which ones would i get better peformance out off, also i hear that the HD4870's are not compatiable with all games.

please advise thanks.

The 4870 is an excellent card. Basically its going to depend on what motherboard you currently have. Also, having run both SLI and Crossfire, i prefer crossfire as its easier to work with, and lets you keep dual monitor support.

hi havent purchased anything yet this is the spec the system was going to be:

NZXT LEXA BlackLine Blue Mid Tower Case With LCD
EVGA 750I FTW motherboard
896MB BFG Tech GTX 260 OC, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), Mem 1998MHz, GPU 590MHz, 192 Cores, 2x DL DVI/HDTV x 2 SLI
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-18
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHz
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB 32mb cache harddrive
750W TX Corsair PSU, single 12V rail, energy efficient, quiet & cool
22" HD Ready LCD

so as i have not purchased anything i can go either way SLI or Crossfire, will obviously need to change my Motherboard choice if i go with crossfire.

The 4870 actually outperforms the 260 for less money. Before the 4870s came out i would have told you 750i and 2 Nvidia cards, but this time around, ATI definately won.

thanks alot looks like you have confirmed what a few other ppl have told me, will be going for 4870's in crossfire. will you be able to reccomend a good motherboard thats supports crossfire.

thanks.

Get an x38/X48/P45 board from your retailer, because 750i FTW is for SLI only
