The power supply is obviously doing it's thing, but the moniter, when hooked up, doesn't work, and the soft power LED flashes instead of staying solid. The computer is on, but not responding.

Hello,

Are you sure the PSU is sufficient for the computer? Are you sure that you have turned off the onboard video? Have you made sure the video card is fully in place and not lifted at all?

Cheers,
Mak

I build/fix a lot of old computers, and sometimes when I get that error it's because the cpu is dead. Try testing everything Mak suggested, and if the error is still there, try either...

a. replacing the graphics card OR using the onboard graphics (if you have any)

b. replacing the cpu

I really don't have the money for a new video card, but I very much doubt it's the PSU's output. (This computer is hardly state of the art.) Well, I'll see what I can do...

WELL! It works! I changed to a more powerful power supply, and it's back up on it's feet. Thanks, guys.
