Hello, this is my first post
Well, I want to build a great reliable computer, one that can play most new games. Since I'm too young to get a job, I turn to my parents, they say work and save.. Meh, so I'm on a fixed budget.
What do I do with my computer?
Well, theres allot.. Lets see, I make models, make pictures, fool with game engines, play online, strategy and shooter games.. Do ALLOT of things on the internet also.
I need a computer that can multi task. Mine just don't cut it.
First question... What do I go with AMD or Intel?
If I go with AMD, I would get these parts...
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors
Newegg.com - MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
Newegg.com - VisionTek 900202 Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards [X2]
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CUL, TUV, FCC, and CB - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - XION Solaris XON-403 Black with Green LED Light Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Total - $737
A bit pricey for me.. But, it seems good. I may not buy 2 of those cards though.
If I go with Intel, I would get these parts...
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - Processors
Newegg.com - EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i FTW SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Newegg.com - BFG Tech BFGE88512GTOCE GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 Version 500W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CUL, TUV, FCC, and CB - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - XION Solaris XON-403 Black with Green LED Light Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Total - $780
This is where I'm confused.. WHICH IS BETTER??? Heh, which is more powerful and faster? I really don't know.. I'll go with the one thats the fastest.
I can't exceed $800, because, well It would take ages to come up with the money. I'll be doing jobs for my parents for the rest of the summer for now anyways.
So, which is the best to go with?
