Got an issue with my build. Its worked fine for a few months and just recently replaced some bad memory and did a full reformat. Worked fine for a few days and not Im getting crashes. Ive been troubleshooting for two days to no avail. Ive tried changing drivers (read it may be a driver issue) installed & uninstalled items per microsoft help, etc. so I figured I would leave it to you Gurus...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 6400+ 3.2
2G (2x1G) G. Skill RAM
EVGA NVIDIA 8800GTS
Windows XP SP3

Here is the crash error info that I could get:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

C:\DOCUME~1\Office\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER660c.dir00\Mini070408-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Office\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER660c.dir00\sysdata.xml

BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : 00000000 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : BA1364A5 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 768_1

It seems to be completely random. Sometimes when running a program, sometimes when its just sitting at idle. It will blue screen for about a second and then crash, followed by a restart with the windows with the error box to follow.

Help lol! ...& happy 4th! ;)

EDIT: Here is some info from Windbg:

Hello,

That is a driver related crash. That means that one or more of your drivers are having a conflict with each other and causing the crash. If you have updated drivers recently roll them back. If not the check for updates.

Cheers,
Mak

Thats what I figured. Im not sure what other drivers to change...Ive changed the soundcard, the video...any other thoughts?

Hello,

Have you tried things like the Chipset driver which also update your USB port drivers as well?

Hadnt thought of that. Im looking around the ASUS site as we speak...

...nope...I have the most updated chipset drivers. Would updating my BIOS help possibly?

Ugh...still doing it. Is there a way to get the information off the blue screen? It flashes so quickly there is no time to read it. This is getting very frustrating lol.

I ran windbg and here is what I got...

Continuously troubleshooting here. Im thinking maybe it was a clash between onboard sound and my Audigy SoundBlaster card. Ive disabled onboard sound in my BIOS and am working on trying to uninstall the onboard drivers...

If you look over some of maks recent posts you will see he has posted a app that he recommends for wiping drivers of your hard drive. It might be in the stickies index in the windows area.

Hello,

To remove your onboard sound drivers use Driver Cleaner Pro.

Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com

You first error report was from Flight Simulator 9 and the NoCD crack you used with it. The 2nd error was a driver related error with the sptd.sys process.

To get teh BSOD to show:
  • First right click on My Computer
  • Select Properties
  • Under the Advanced Tab in the Startup and Recovery area
  • Select Settings

Now under there find the section System Failure uncheck the box for Automatic Restart on System Failure.

This will keep the BSOD on screen for you to get the information you need. It will stay there till you restart the system yourself.

Cheers,
Mak
