ATA is advanced atachment interface. yes you will notice a difference of SATA versus ATA100 or ATA133. SATA is ATA150. the number in ATAxxx stands for MB/ sec (megabytes per second. higher is better) if you get a 10,000 or 15,000 RPM SATA disk it will hual ass, I'm talking some serious ass. I'm not sure which SATA models are the best out there, maybe someone can recommend some models for you
