Since my current machine is like 7 years old now i decided it's high time I build a new PC.
I'm not gonna go overboard here but I want a system that can run all the latest games (maybe can handle crysis on med - high settings) price isn't a concern but if possible I'd like to keep this under 1500$. My monitor mouse and speakers are all fine so I'm just building a tower and everything inside. Here's what I'm looking at right now.
CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400
MOBO: ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel
GPU: EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
RAM:CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF - Retail
HD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
1 ASUS Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E616A3T OEM - OEM
1 PLEXTOR 52X CD Burner Black IDE Model PX-240A/SW-BL - Retail
PSU:CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply
Cooler Master Centurion 5 Case w/ 2 thermaltake fans (120mm & 80mm)
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler
comes out to a lil less than 1300$ with an added keyboard and windows XP pro
basically there are some issues with this build that need to be addressed, the first being that when I downloaded the owners manual for the ASUS MoBo i was surprised to learn that 3Gb or more of memory isn't recommended on 32 bit O.S. i know this is also true for ASUS's Rampage formula board. I really wanted to run 4gb of memory but is it even necessary? is it common for Mobos not to support 4gb on 32 bit systems? Then theres the Issue of the PSU
i really don't know which one to get.
Finally, considering that i have the money to spend on this and i want it to last me a long time, should i just go ahead and SLI that GPU witha diff Mobo? how much more money are we talking about? The Centurion 5 is barely big enough to hold 1 8800 so i'd have to upsize the tower for sure.
Any feedback at all is extremely helpful =D thx
