...whats the difference?

they seem like they are almost exactly the same lol but i could be wrong
can someone please explain to me?

also if there are any links to some benchmarks between the two that would be nice

the x48's are just x38 boards but can hit higher FSB if i recall correctly. veedub will be able to explain further.

they are exactly the same....peter cort is right the x48s have just been speed binned so that they guarantee a 1600fsb (400mhz). This does not mean that the x38 boards can't clock though. Mine has hit 525fsb so far.

i see...i was planning on getting a Q6600 and OC'ing it to 3.6....which would give it an FSB of 400 mhz. But if you say that you hit 525 with an x38 then it seems it would be a waste of money to buy an x48......right?

yeah basically any board these days will hit 400fsb :)

Why do you want X38 though? Only useful if you plan on going crossfire.

Get the x38. I just made this same decision today. The only difference is the speed binning, and its not worth the extra 30-40 bucks.

What do you suggest i get instead of the x38?

Oh btw, i was planning on getting a 9800GTX+ when it comes out so no, i won't be using crossfire.

I would go for a P45 board. Personally, I just bought the P5Q Deluxe, but the cheaper P5Q Pro is probably what I'd suggest.

Also I'd go with a 4850 or 4870 over the 9800GTX+ :p but suit yourself.
