Gf Finally decided that she wants me to build her a PC after ages of dealing with her POS, and not letting me get her one.
She said her price range is 600-700 area

What she wants todo with it is. Use Adobe CS3, dreamweaver, and play games shes basically likes shooters, RPG's and really likes Rhythm games and her current pc cant handle **** lol

Not really sure what exactly the best system i can get for that price range. What you guys think?

let me ask these questions first.

Is a monitor needed?
What size hard drive is ideal for her
is vista being used?
are you going to overclock it?

answer those then i can put together one for you

1)No Monitor

2)higher than 100gig's and shes happy

3)Vista will probably be put on there in the future

4)I was thinking about overclocking, but probably wont happen since its not my computer

5) shouldn't need an OS

Total comes to $601 addd shipping total will be somewhere around $640.

The case can be changed out I choose that one becuase it's a really good one for the money however that build shouldn't be putting out much heat so have her pick a case around 50-70 bucks that she really likes and just make sure the reviews are half-decent.

I always choose parts that are overclockable anyway for a gaming/video type build becuase the best parts for those systems even at their cheapest overclock.

I had her go through it a bit. She kinda forgot her own budget can u help me drop it back down a bit. she wants a really good video card and i guess a big HDD. sorry about the earlier info lol

Yeah, making the 9600gt use 1gb is a marketing gimmick. The GPU can't even use that much memory at once. In most cases it slightly slows the GPU's performance.

Your GF won't need more than what Sora posted. That's a heck of a PC for the price. Any more than that and she would be wasting money.
*edit* Oh and the 8800gt > 9600gt btw.

go with a 8800 GTS 512MB it can play Crysis all settings on high about
30+ FPS So it can handle anything. and you can always upgrade in the future to another 8800GTS for Dual SLI.

Her budget is tight as it is...and also the 8800GTS 512 is a horrible card to buy right now when the 9800GTX can be had for 15 bucks less...also no she couldn't that board doesn't support SLI...
