My Mom and Dad have been thinking about a new family computer, one that is low budget but still good enough for some low end games that my sister will be playing (and maybe me until I get a good rig) I have put together a parts list and one of the big things I am having trouble with is which OS should I use XP Home XP Pro or dare I say Vista Home. I am leaning to XP Pro because XP is more reliable then vista (So I have heard) and most of the other computer in my house use XP pro, accept for my laptop. Now we have a server in our house, it's not hooked up I don't know if it will be again it was used before but it isn't being used now (long story don't ask) anyways I haven't noticed many difference's between XP home and XP pro, will XP home be enough of should we go with XP pro?

Anyways here is the list of parts I have put together all are on newegg, all suggestions are welcome the total is $486.19 with OS. We don't need a monitor, we have a lot laying around and we are planning on getting a flat panel one at the state sale for around $75.

I got a lot of the items from the pc parts guide

There is nothing wrong with vista (except home basic that is a joke) however if you want XP go with pro.

Ok I think I will get the radeon HD 3450. How do I Crossfire the HD 3450? I know their is an external crossfire thing or is their a need for some sort of a bridge?. Also I don't need a power supply anymore I found one lying around the house :)

Also with Vista Should I get more RAM? I've heard that it needs a lot of ram to run good.

You should probably get 2gb of ram for Vista.

As far as hybrid crossfire goes I think it is internal so you wouldn't need a bridge.
