Low Memory System - 2k or XP??

My dad owns an old laptop (HP Omnibook 4100)
It only has 64mb of ram, which is pretty sad... but anyways,

It had W98 on it, but it wasnt cutting it in reliability and compatability wise, so I threw on 2k for him.

And so comes my question:
Which would run better on this low-memory system =

Windows 2k
or
Windows XP Pro (SP1) (ALL visual effects OFF!)
Both OSes optimized accordingly ( ^ ^ )

He doesnt need to do much, but 2k does slow down sometimes on him.

I installed my xp on my laptop, it is very very slow on pentium 11 processor.

Win 2k will run better on your laptop alecjahn!

by the way MicroBell..before I upgraded to 265, XP Pro DID run on my 64MB RAM! I cannot explain it, but it worked

I can tell you from a it of experience that XP will work on 64mb, but it's slower then.. well I don't really know what.
Even at 128 XP is slow if you install office or try to do much more then web browsing. 2k, atleast runs well at 64 and better at 128. after 512, you dont' see much for performance enhancement within the OS ut it's still nice to have.

So Win2k is really the only choice you have here. but I guess if you wanted to get fancy, you could look for XP embedded and see what that can do...
